Bulldog Skincare For Men Kicks Off Earth Month With Launch of New Sustainable Sugarcane Packaging

A Breakthrough In Men's Grooming -- What Could Be Sweeter?

PR Newswire

SHELTON, Conn., April 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate Earth Month, Bulldog Skincare For Men, the U.K. born brand that pushes boundaries to help men look and feel their best, is continuing to challenge the male grooming category by taking the brand's mission a step further with a new approach to sustainability. Bulldog is now revolutionizing the way it packages its products with new tubes derived from Brazilian sugarcane, a renewable resource with minimum impact on food suppliers or biodiversity. This innovative concept makes Bulldog the first men's skincare brand in the world to use sugarcane as a raw material in packaging.

The skincare industry is a major contributor to the amount of plastic packaging used each year, with most packaging made from fossil fuel petrochemicals. These non-renewable sources release carbon dioxide during the process of conversion to plastic and contribute to global warming. Working with Brazilian company Braskem and U.K. tube manufacturer M&H Plastics, Bulldog developed a new packaging innovation to help reduce its consumption of fossil fuel materials by using sugarcane as the main component, which doesn't need much more than natural rainfall to grow.

"We are extremely excited to bring this important breakthrough to market," said Simon Duffy, Founder of Bulldog Skincare For Men. "The great thing about sugarcane plastic is that its properties are no different from traditional plastic materials, but its environmental impact is significantly better."

Made by extracting ethanol from the sugarcane plant, instead of releasing carbon dioxide, the plastic from sugarcane saves it. In fact, for every 100 tons of sugarcane plastic produced, 309 tons of CO2 are taken out of the environment resulting in a significant impact on the environment.

All of Bulldog's products containing plastic from sugarcane will display a new logo specifying the amount of sugarcane plastic consumers can expect to find in that pack. Additionally, all products are fully recyclable.

Bulldog Skincare For Men is a vegan friendly skincare brand and certified Cruelty Free International. From the very first day of launch they have never used artificial colors, synthetic fragrances or ingredients from animal sources.
