Baylin Technologies Announces the Release of a New Line of GaN Based SSPAs and BUCs for Ultra High Definition Broadcasting Applications

Canada NewsWire

TORONTO, March 28, 2019 /CNW/ - Baylin Technologies Inc. ("Baylin") (TSX: BYL) today announced that its Kirkland, Quebec wholly owned subsidiary, Advantech Wireless Technologies Inc. ("Advantech") has released a new line of solid state power amplifiers and block up converters that offer the highest power density and smallest form factor in the industry.

Baylin Technologies Inc. (CNW Group/Baylin Technologies Inc.)

The new Taurus line of 500W Ku-Band Gallium Nitride (GaN) Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block-up Converters (BUCs) are specifically suited for mobile and fixed communication terminals. These products support digital satellite news gathering which facilitates the sharing of global events in real time from remote locations via ultra-high definition TV transmission.

Randy Dewey, President and CEO of Baylin Technologies, explained that "this new Taurus line of products was specifically designed for reliability, efficiency and high performance for mobile SATCOM applications including TV broadcasting and disaster recovery communications which require ever higher data throughput capabilities. The new DVB-S2X satellite digital broadcasting standard allows for higher modulation rates which require more RF power. Ku-band solutions are ideally suited for this and with the potential migration of C-band spectrum into the 5G domain, the efficient bandwidth utilization of the Ku-band products will be particularly important for performance."

Visit Advantech Wireless Technologies at NAB SHOW 2019, the world's largest convention encompassing the convergence of media, entertainment and technology. NAB SHOW is held April 8-11 in Las Vegas and Advantech will be showcasing its Ultra HD ready satellite solutions.
