VANCOUVER, July 10, 2017 /CNW/ - The Province of British Columbia has declared a provincial state of emergency due to wildfire activity in the interior region.

West Fraser has temporarily suspended operations in 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and Chasm.  West Fraser mills in Williams Lake and Chasm have staff and resources that are being deployed to protect our facilities and the communities.  In the case of our100 Mile House mill, the staff and community have been evacuated to comply with evacuation orders in the surrounding areas.

The fire situation in the Interior of British Columbia is volatile and the situation is evolving. West Fraser will continue to make operational decisions accordingly. At this time, West Fraser is uncertain how long our 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and Chasm operations will be suspended and is unable to assess the impact on lumber and plywood production.
