The rate cycle drives everything. Raoul always says that "bonds are the truth." And that’s the basis of Raoul's discussion with Jeff Moore, who oversees part of the $1 trillion Fidelity Investments bond portfolio. Jeff is a macro guy and a tactical asset allocator, so he talks the language of markets, economies, and central banks and understands the big picture secular trends and the business cycle. Jeff outlines his views on the rate cycle and what it means for government bonds, the U.S. dollar, and credit markets. When bonds are driving the business cycle, we need to listen to the Big Bond Investor. Recorded on May 6, 2022.

Why This Is Ethereum's Awkward Teen Phase
The price of Ethereum has dropped significantly over the past 12 months. But, as longtime investor and community member Ryan Bercksman says, "Ethereum is still in its awkward teenage years and is now moving to adulthood." What Comes Next With a Weaponized Financial System?
When Russia invaded Ukraine, the world came together and weaponized the financial system against Vladimir Putin and his close associates. The problem, according to Louis-Vincent Gave, is that in freezing the assets of Russian oligarchs, the legal system that protects all of us is undermined. And it’s “very hard to put Humpty Dumpty back together again,” says Gave, the CEO of Gavekal Research. The rules have changed, making it difficult for investors to deploy capital. Gave joins Jared Dillian, the editor of the Dirtnap, to discuss the consequences of war in Eastern Europe, including the acceleration of deglobalization as well as the onset of what look now to be permanently high energy prices. Recorded on April 19, 2022.

Can Stocks Overcome Historic Headwinds?
U.S. equity indexes ground generally higher through the trading session Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 breaking into the green but the Nasdaq Composite struggling in negative territory. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note slipped by six basis points to 2.88%, as bonds caught a bid on economic growth concerns. Recent data from China indicate President Xi’s “COVID Zero” policy is exerting a tremendous drag on the domestic economy, with down-the-line impacts on the global economy sure to follow, including supply-chain snarls. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs Senior Chairman Lloyd Blankfein warned of a "very, very high risk" of a US recession. Eric Johnston, head of Equity Derivatives and Cross Asset for Cantor Fitzgerald, joins Real Vision’s Maggie Lake for today’s Daily Briefing to talk about short-, medium-, and long-term direction for stocks, recent macro data, and earnings. We also hear from Danielle DiMartino Booth, CEO of Quill Intelligence, about whether the Fed has not just the policy tools but the general resolve to do what has to be done to end inflation.
