TIMIA Capital Generates Early Cash Return on Buyout of Rise Finance Agreement
Vancouver, British Columbia (FSCwire) - TIMIA Capital Corporation (TSX-V:TCA) (“TIMIA” or the “Company”) today announced that one of its investments, Rise People Inc. (“Rise”), has bought out its finance agreement with TIMIA. The transaction paid TIMIA the original $1.5 million investment plus an additional cash payment of approximately $70K over and above reimbursed transaction expenses.
“TIMIA has a proven track record of identifying and investing in successful SaaS companies,” says Mike Walkinshaw, CEO of TIMIA. “This transaction validates our business model and the quality of the portfolio investments we actively manage. We look for investments to deliver a consistent return over the life of the agreement, however, the active space and high-quality companies can generate early returns for TIMIA and its co-investors and shareholders.”
Financing and merger and acquisition transactions in the software as a service (“SaaS”) space are on the rise. According to the Software Equity Group, SaaS mergers and acquisitions reached an all time high of 829 transactions in 2017, meaning TIMIA is positioned to benefit from the quality of the portfolio investments it actively manages and periodically exits.
The $1.5 million investment in the Vancouver, British Columbia-based Rise in November 2017 included investors from its new co-investment or participation finance model. TIMIA’s investment strategy is to earn returns for its shareholders via a combination of steady monthly payments with the potential for realizing capital gains. These capital gains occur as investee companies are sold or otherwise exit the financing facilities prior to the end of the term.
