- PGA Tour rookie seals RSM Classic after dramatic five-man playoff win

TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - theScore, Inc. (TSX Venture: SCR) ("theScore") is proud to congratulate Canadian golf star Mackenzie Hughes after he secured his first PGA Tour victory following a dramatic playoff win in the RSM Classic.

The 25-year-old from Dundas, Ontario, has been sponsored by theScore for the past three seasons. He made history today by winning a five-man playoff, becoming the first PGA Tour rookie in 20 years to win after leading a tournament wire-to-wire.

The victory means Hughes has now secured his PGA Tour membership through to the 2018-19 season and has also qualified to compete in The Masters, The PGA Championship, The Players Championship and The Tournament of Champions in 2017.

"theScore has been with Mac since his early days, so it's hugely exciting to see all his hard work rewarded with his first PGA Tour win," said John Levy, Founder and CEO of theScore.

"Like theScore is doing in the app space, Mac is taking on and beating the big boys. We couldn't be happier for him and look forward to Mac representing theScore brand at some of the highest profile events in the world this season."

His win at Sea Island in Georgia came after leading from the very first round, when he shot a 61. The tournament culminated in a nail-biting five-man playoff, which was carried over to Monday. Hughes drained a clutch putt to par the third playoff hole and, with the others unable to match his score, the Canadian scooped his first PGA Tour win, propelling him to fourth in the FedEx Cup standings after five events.
