The Pôle des Technologies propres de la Gaspésie receives $135,000 in funding

CHANDLER, QC, Feb. 15, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Pôle des Technologies propres de la Gaspésie (the Pôle) is an organization whose ultimate goal is to create significant and diversified value chains in the field of renewable fuels and carbon recovery. To support it in its first year of operations, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions has provided the organization with a $135,000 non-repayable contribution.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue. The Government of Canada's assistance will enable the Pôle to hire the resources it needs to structure its business, validate business opportunities, develop strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with stakeholders in the sector, and respond to requests from promoters and organizations that require coaching.

The Pôle is a non-profit organization incorporated on March 28, 2018. Its creation stems from consultation among local and regional economic development stakeholders in the region, and the involvement and participation of the managers of the cement plant located in Port-Daniel–Gascons. The organization's mission is to deploy an ecologically and financially efficient industrial network in the Gaspé, the cornerstone of which is the reduction of CO2 emissions from the various manufacturing activities in the region.

The Government of Canada has made tangible commitments to demonstrate that a strong economy and a healthy environment go hand in hand. One of these commitments involves making strategic investments in clean technologies and providing increased support for organizations seeking innovative solutions to advance the development of our economy towards cleaner growth.
