Shell Canada rewards 5,000 acts of kindness with free gift cards

Canada NewsWire

Customers across Canada will be recognized for their kindness starting on National Random Acts of Kindness day

CALGARY, Feb. 15, 2019 /CNW/ - Shell Canada today announced its plans to help fuel kindness across Canada by giving away more than 5,000 Shell gift cards and encouraging people to pay it forward to a friend, family member or stranger. The gift card giveaway, which is part of Shell's Fuelling Kindness initiative, will happen at participating Shell locations across Canada from February 17 to February 19.

Starting Sunday, February 17 on National Random Acts of Kindness Day – a global day of kindness – Shell retail staff will be on the lookout for random acts of kindness at select Shell stations across Canada. They will reward customers who have gone out of their way to help or show kindness to others. Those recognized will be presented with two gift cards, one to keep and another to pay forward to a stranger, to continue the act of kindness.

Fuelling Kindness is a grassroots initiative first started in a town where a great number of our employees live and work that has grown into a Canada-wide initiative. It aims to help spread positivity across the country and to build a healthier and happier Canada.

"Kindness is very Canadian and part of who we are," said Michael Crothers, Shell Canada President and Country Chair. "When a group of Shell employees started this initiative, their goal was to pay it forward in the communities where we work and live. Every act of kindness makes a difference and can inspire others. We are delighted to celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Day by encouraging others to pay it forward and spread kindness on this day and beyond."

Shell will also be encouraging people to spread kindness on social media in February. Tell us about your latest random act of kindness by sharing on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using #FuellingKindness.
