NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Reuters, the world's largest international multimedia news provider, announced a partnership with Wibbitz to create news videos for Reuters News Agency customers using automation technology. For the first time ever, Reuters News Agency will offer ready-to-publish digital videos that are automatically produced as soon as relevant Reuters pictures, text and graphics are available, powered by Wibbitz technology.

The new partnership will expand the selection of videos available to Reuters clients and provide videos summarizing news events within minutes. Wibbitz's platform also has the ability to customize video design, supports generation of captions in multiple languages and can produce multiple versions of the same video to suit different screens and audiences. Videos will be available to publishers exclusively through Reuters News Agency platforms. Some videos will also be available free of charge on Open Media Express

The first application of the partnership will deliver recap videos that summarize soccer matches from top European leagues, available just minutes after games conclude. Going forward, Reuters and Wibbitz will explore other topic areas where this technology can be applied.

"Demand for news videos for social and mobile use continues to grow both for our customers and from their audiences" said Rob Schack, Global Head of Partnerships & Verticals for Reuters News Agency. "The speed and breadth of videos Reuters can produce with Wibbitz technology will provide our customers with captivating content when and where these audiences want it most."

"Reuters has the right text content and high-quality media to create excellent videos, and our technology can repackage these pieces into dynamic video summaries as soon as a story breaks," said Zohar Dayan, Co-founder & CEO at Wibbitz. "Automation will help Reuters expand its video offering across screens, social platforms, and audiences, further solidifying its position as the world's leading multimedia news provider."
