Redline announces multi-million dollar project with Mohawk Networks for rural connectivity in Upstate New York

PR Newswire

TORONTO, April 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - Redline Communications (www.rdlcom.com) Group Inc. (TSX: RDL), a leading provider of wide-area wireless networks for the most challenging applications and locations, today announces that its customer Mohawk Networks, LLC has been awarded a US$6.4 million grant to begin a rural broadband connectivity project that will bring internet access to Lewis County, NY. This award comes as part of the New York State Broadband Program Office's effort to connect citizens in unserved and underserved areas of the state.  The project will generate revenue of approximately US$2.5 million for Redline and is expected to be deployed over the next 18 months.

Mohawk Networks' project will be deployed with Redline's Enterprise product line which has been built on Redline's Virtual Fiber™ technology and developed specifically to address the service provider markets and other similar industries. The selection of Redline came after Mohawk Networks evaluated numerous products and vendors for a complete solution.  In addition to its technology, Redline will provide RF design services and support, while its value added channel partners will provide fulfillment.

"The team here at Mohawk Networks lives in the North Country and cares deeply about providing Akwesasne's co-residents with the same level of service accessible in large metropolitan areas," says Jeff Beekhoo, Mohawk Networks' CEO. "With this in mind, we wanted to use the best technology on the market. Redline became the obvious choice for us after we tested various vendors. We were impressed that Redline provided outstanding support in the preparation of our solution. Their ability to consult with us and develop a deployment and execution plan, and their dedicated teamwork approach demonstrated their commitment to our success."

"The Redline team is pleased to support Mohawk Networks as they implement this important project," said Redline CEO, Rob Williams. "Internet service providers have responded well to our revamped Enterprise product line which provides reliable, competitive and profitable solutions with superior performance."

About Mohawk Networks

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribally owned enterprise, Mohawk Networks, LLC, was launched in 2015 after the Tribe's completion of a $15 million broadband project that laid sixty-eight miles of fiber and connected hundreds of Akwesasne residents to reliable, cost-effective broadband service.  Mohawk Networks developed an off-territory subsidiary company, North Country Broadband, which is activating customers in rural, unserved counties, utilizing fiber to wireless technology, a less expensive deployment that leverages existing E911 towers.  Mohawk Networks created a model that will deliver high speed Internet to our surrounding communities, increasing access to education, healthcare and strengthening our regional economy.  For more information, please visit www.mohawk-networks.com.
