The Educational Partnership Foundation is pleased to announce that on Tuesday November 13th, through their partnership with the Calgary Flames Foundation, select Flames players will visit St. Patrick Elementary School along with Harvey the Hound and the voice of the Calgary Flames, Beesley, for the TEPF literacy program, Reading…Give It A Shot!

Reading…Give It A Shot! School Visit

Date:                                 Tuesday, November 13

Flames attending:                 Dillon Dube, Juuso Valimaki and Mark Jankowski

Where:                          St. Patrick Elementary – 6006 Rundlehorn Drive NE

Time:                                1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Flames players will answer questions from students followed by autographs. Reading…Give It A Shot! is a program that encourages students in grade one through Grade 6 to develop a love of reading, improve their reading skills and have some fun.  Students, depending on their age, work toward the goal of collecting all 24 Calgary Flames or Harvey the Hound trading cards.  This initiative is an excellent opportunity to emphasize the importance of literacy, complement existing reading programs in schools, and encourage parents to share in their children's reading. Last season, over 28,000 students participated in the Reading…Give It A Shot! program.

The Calgary Flames Foundation strives to improve the lives of southern Albertans through support of health and wellness, education and grassroots and amateur sports programming. When the ownership group brought the Flames to Calgary in 1980 their mandate, which is still prominent today, was to ensure that the Calgary Flames have a positive impact on the quality of life in southern Alberta. Since its inception the Foundation, with the support of partners and donors, has raised millions in these key areas. The Foundation is committed to supporting health and wellness, amateur and grassroots sports along with education programs including Reading…Give It A Shot!

For over 27 years TEPF has been making a positive impact on the lives of students by playing a key role in the partnerships between business, educators, government and school communities. TEPF helps students explore possibilities throughout their education which can provide them with the freedom to choose their future. TEPF delivers programs in three key areas: literacy, environmental leadership and trades careers.

Founded in 1991, The Calgary Educational Partnership Foundation was established as a registered charity to provide support for students and teachers in the Calgary and the surrounding area. During its 25th Anniversary year, the organization changed its name to The Educational Partnership Foundation (TEPF) and in 2018 has expanded to offer all programs throughout Alberta.
