EVANSTON, Ill. --

Qualified Remodeler, the leading magazine serving residential remodelers, today released its 41st annual list of the largest remodeling firms in the United States, the QR Top 500. In total, the group represents $10.9 billion in sales on 1,331,490 remodeling and home improvement jobs. The list was first compiled in 1978 and has been the benchmark of success among remodelers and home improvement professionals ever since.

“Year-over-year, remodeling revenue was up 18.7 percent. The total number of remodeling jobs was up 30.9 percent. And perhaps most importantly, their forecast for the year ahead is 17.6 percent higher on top of the current gains.” said Patrick O’Toole, publisher and co-owner of Qualified Remodeler. “The 2019 Top 500 is an accurate reflection of a strong market for remodeling and big firms are taking full advantage.”

BELFOR Holdings Inc., is ranked the No. 1 fully owned and operated firm on the list for the 19th consecutive year, with $1.85 billion in activity on 146,000 jobs. Based in Birmingham, Mich., BELFOR specializes in insurance restoration activity across the country.

The No. 1 national organization, representing firms with a network of franchisees, is Window World Inc., of North Wilkesboro, N.C. The firm generated $724 million in revenue on 184,754 jobs totaling in excess of 1 million new windows installed.

A number of opportunities and challenges were cited by the Top 500 remodelers. The biggest opportunity: a higher volume of leads for new business. The biggest challenge: finding qualified employees and trade contractors.
