Partners Value Investments LP Announces 2018 Semi-Annual Results

TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Partners Value Investments LP (the “Partnership”) (TSXV:PVF.UN) announced today its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2018. All amounts are stated in US dollars.

The Partnership recorded an increase in net book value during the second quarter of $134 million ($1.50 per unit) to $3.0 billion ($34.50 per unit). The increase is due to an increase in the quoted market price of Brookfield Asset Management common shares, unrealized gains and investment income earned on the Partnerships investment portfolio.

Net income for the quarter was $55 million, of which $50 million was attributable to the Equity Limited Partners ($0.56 per Equity LP unit), up from $7 million in the prior year quarter. The increase in net income was due to higher investment valuations gains in the current period compared with the prior year quarter, and foreign currency gains due to the strengthening US dollar.
