National Bank welcomes Pierre Blouin to its Board of Directors

MONTREAL, Sept. 1, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Pierre Blouin as a member of its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mr. Blouin will also sit on the Human Resources Committee.

Pierre Blouin is an experienced corporate director with a solid background as an executive in the North American IT and telecommunications industry. Mr. Blouin was Chief Executive Officer of Manitoba Telecom Services from 2005 to 2014. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years at BCE Inc., notably as president of several subsidiaries, including Bell Mobility and BCE Emergis.

"With Canadian financial institutions today operating in an increasingly complex technological environment, Pierre Blouin's expertise as a CEO of digital technology companies will be an important asset to National Bank's board," stated Jean Houde, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Blouin holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from HEC Montréal and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. He has been honoured as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 and named a "Grand bâtisseur" by Commerce magazine for his achievements in business. He is also a Fellow of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada. During his career, he has held seats on the boards of several public corporations, including BCE Emergis and Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. and non-profit organizations such as the Conference Board du Canada. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors, Human Resources Committee and Governance and Nominating Committee of Fortis Inc. Mr. Blouin is also a director of Canadian non-profit organizations in the health sector.
