The ACCT Foundation to receive over $157,000 through the Inter-Action grants and contributions program

CALGARY, Nov. 17, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, today announced that the Department of Canadian Heritage will provide over $157,000 in funding for the ACCT Foundation's project Building South Asian Communities' Capacity for Refugee Sponsorship and Resettlement. The project is receiving funding through Inter-Action, the Government of Canada's multiculturalism grants and contributions program. Inter-Action provides funding to community engagement and development projects that promote intercultural understanding and equal opportunities for people of all cultures.

The ACCT Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve inclusion for Chinese Canadians in all aspects of Canadian society. The project Building South Asian Communities' Capacity for Refugee Sponsorship and Resettlement trains Chinese-Canadian youth and community leaders to become more effective advocates for marginalized members of their cities and regions.

Diversity and inclusion are central to who we are as Canadians. By receiving support through the Inter-Action program, projects such as this help create bonds between all Canadians by working to eliminate discrimination, racism and prejudice while also providing opportunities for youth community engagement and uniting people through art, culture or sport.
