MEG Energy reports incident at Christina Lake sulphur plant

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - March 03, 2016) -  MEG Energy (TSX: MEG) has responded to and extinguished a small fire in the company's sulphur treatment facilities at its Christina Lake site today. The fire was confined to the sulphur plant and did not impact the integrity of the main processing facilities. There were no injuries and all workers on site are safe. Local communities, emergency response organizations and regulatory authorities have been notified.

Production at the Christina Lake site has been temporarily suspended and MEG is working with regulatory authorities to safely resume operations.

MEG Energy Corp. is focused on sustainable in situ oil sands development and production in the southern Athabasca oil sands region of Alberta, Canada.
