Iconic Sun Life Building opens doors to the public for 100th anniversary

Canada NewsWire

MONTREAL, Nov. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic Sun Life Building in Montreal, Sun Life Financial is proud to invite the public to participate in free, exclusive building tours on November 24, 25 and December 1 and 2. Heritage Montreal guides will take visitors on a journey of discovery, highlighting unique architectural features and lesser-known historical facts behind the Quebec heritage treasure.

Sun Life Financial (CNW Group/Sun Life Financial Canada)

The tours will provide special access to the century-old building overlooking Dorchester Square. Once known as "the largest building in the British Empire," it stands today as a testament to Montreal's vibrant economic growth – in which Sun Life played no small part. Visitors will have an opportunity to admire the building's exceptional architecture, which embodies strength and elegance, tour the trading floor and see inside the infamous underground vault.

"Sun Life is proud to celebrate our building's 100th anniversary with members of the Montreal community. Since its inauguration in 1918, the Sun Life Building has left an indelible mark on downtown Montreal. Today, it remains Sun Life's principal place of business in Quebec, and home to over 2,000 employees," said Robert Dumas, President and CEO, Sun Life Financial, Quebec.
