LIVERMORE, Calif. --

Caminar, a Bay Area nonprofit that provides community-based behavioral health services, has selected high-speed internet services delivered over fiber and coax from Comcast Business to support its rapid business expansion and growing range of service offerings. Comcast Business will deliver reliable, affordable broadband high-speed network connectivity to Caminar’s 32 locations, which support more than 300 employees.

For over 50 years, Caminar has provided individual and family mental and behavioral health services throughout the Bay Area. Contracted by San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Solano, and Butte counties, Caminar serves more than 14,000 people annually and is quickly expanding that reach, recently acquiring Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley, Healthy Partnerships, and Project Ninety.

With this growth, Caminar’s Information Technology (IT) team needed to ensure its systems could support the new employees and members. To do so, Caminar, already a ten-year Comcast Business customer, expanded its network connection, adding 50-100 megabit per second (Mbps) Ethernet Dedicated Internet service to new facilities. Caminar employees rely on a high-performance internet connection and need quick, easy access to the central office data center for electronic health records, reporting, billing and other crucial applications.

“Our employees are online constantly and could not provide Caminar’s high level of service without a strong network,” said Cipriano Andrada, Caminar’s IT Manager. “The speed and reliability of this network are especially crucial as our employees are handling confidential and time-sensitive medical information. We have employed a fiber optic network at our sites and feel confident in expanding the service from Comcast Business as we grow our company.”

Along with Ethernet services, Caminar has also deployed Comcast Business VoiceEdge, a cloud based unified communications solution providing a wide range of voice features and capabilities at two of its locations.

“When we evaluated various providers, we were quite surprised by the affordability of Comcast Business’ advanced and high-performance services,” said Andrada. “The pricing allows us to implement the service and easily scale as our business continues to grow. Three acquisitions in one year was a huge undertaking for our IT department and we needed a strong network provider to work with us. Furthermore, working with Comcast Business could not be better – when we need them, they deliver for us.”

Transitioning from multiple service providers to using Comcast Business as its main provider for internet services has not only helped Caminar manage costs, but also helped boost efficiency as they streamline many processes.

“At Comcast Business, innovation and customer service are at the forefront of our work,” said David Brown, regional vice president of Comcast Business for California. “It’s always our goal to build long-standing relationships with customers and share with them advanced network services we’ve developed to help make their lives easier and their businesses more efficient. Comcast Business ensures that throughout the Caminar network, staff can feel confident that they’ll have all the tools and information at their fingertips.”
