Green Science Alliance Co., Ltd. Has Started Custom Synthesis and Basic Electrochemical Measurements of the Electrode and Electrolyte of a Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC)

They also have started developing carbon-alloy-type catalyst and a MOF (Metal Organic Framework) derived catalytic electrode material.

PR Newswire

KAWANISHI, Japan, Oct. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuel cells have received a great deal of attention because they are a highly efficient power source that can directly change the chemical energy of gases such as hydrogen into electricity. The PEFC is said to be the next-generation battery because they are already in practical use in homes, automotive batteries, etc. PEFCs can function even at low temperatures (lower than 100 degrees Celsius). They can be small and lightweight because the electrolyte film can be thin. The cost of materials, however, is a problem because platinum is used for the electrode, and expensive fluoride-based materials are used for the electrolyte.

Green Science Alliance Co., Ltd. has been conducting research on rechargeable aluminum air battery, lithium ion battery, and SOFCs. This time, the company will also accept requests for custom synthesis and measurements of basic electrochemical properties of the electrode and electrolyte of PEFCs in accordance with customer requests. To cut down the cost of PEFC, they will try to replace conventional platinum-based catalyst materials. More precisely, carbon alloy catalysts doped with nitrogen is one of the candidate materials.  They will also develop MOF-derived catalytic materials by choosing appropriate additives and by optimizing heat treatment procedures so that they can control the structure of electrode materials at the atomic and molecular levels. Green Science Alliance Co., Ltd. has already been manufacturing and supplying MOFs; hence, they can develop this MOF-derived catalytic material in-house quickly and efficiently.

Measurement data will include XRD patterns, SEM images, I–V curve by rotation disk measurement, impedance measurement, and particle size. They will also accept requests from customers for measuring other experimental data.
