Canadian insiders are on the hunt for gold stock bargains

Lying in wait for commodities inflation with mining stocks is one of three key insider investing themes that we have come across through our work with the INK Canadian Insider Index, daily INK Edge screenings and sentiment indicators.

Since the great financial crisis, central banks have relied on non-conventional monetary policy such as QE and ultra-low rates to stimulate inflation. However, most of that stimulus has gone into asset prices, including government bonds, real estate and even art collectables. Insiders are positioned for some of that monetary black magic to eventually find its way into commodity prices. Within the Basic Materials sector, insiders had been favouring industrial metals miners and forest products firms over gold stocks. However, insiders have been using recent weakness in junior gold stocks to add to their positions.
