TORONTO --

Facedrive Inc. (“Facedrive”) (TSXV: FD), a “people-and-planet first” business, is pleased to announce “TraceSCAN”, the COVID-19 contact tracing platform which includes an application, wearables and artificial intelligence technology that helps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and predict future outbreaks.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200528005281/en/

TraceSCAN, a joint initiative by Facedrive Health and the University of Waterloo, is a comprehensive solution that combines a smart contact tracing app, wearable technology and artificial intelligence, setting it apart from other contact tracing solutions. TraceSCAN’s contact tracing app uses Bluetooth technology to alert users when they come in close contact with someone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19. TraceSCAN is available for the general public enabling users to take safety precautions such as self-isolation or close monitoring for signs of COVID-19 symptoms. TraceSCAN is also available for businesses as an additional health and safety measure provided by responsible employers to their employees, As economies begin reopening across Canada, TraceSCAN offers users with a precautionary tool so that they return to work with peace of mind while helping to re-start the Canadian economy.

The University of Waterloo research team, which includes Waterloo Engineering professors and students, is developing AI technology that will enhance the performance of the TraceSCAN contact tracing app. A prototype of the AI platform is expected to be available for testing in 30 to 90 days, pending required provincial approval and adoption by the public. The research team is creating AI algorithms, using clustering techniques to group individuals within a community and incorporate physical distancing, quarantining, and testing results to assist in forecasting the spread of COVID-19 and predicting future outbreaks.

As part of the TraceSCAN platform, Facedrive Health and Waterloo researchers are also developing Bluetooth-based wearables that will improve contact tracing accuracy and real-time monitoring of the recovery progress through measurement of specific vital signs. Facedrive Health is not making any express or implied claims that its product has the ability to eliminate, cure or contain the COVID-19 (or SARS-2 coronavirus) at this time.

MT>Ventures, a division of McCarthy Trétrault LLP and TraceSCAN partner, will provide expertise to ensure compliance of Canadian privacy guidelines for all components of the TraceSCAN platform, which encompasses the contact tracing app, AI and wearable technology.

“As an innovative technology company with a people-and-planet-first business model, we believe it is Facedrive’s responsibility to contribute advanced technology solutions to our country during times of crisis,” said Facedrive Chairman and CEO, Sayan Navaratnam. “We are extremely pleased to be working with the University of Waterloo’s team of researchers to enhance the TraceSCAN platform to develop a full solution that helps slows the spread of the virus and helps to identify any future COVID-19 outbreaks.”

Facedrive Health has secured several partnerships, including the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) with 130,000 highly skilled members across a diverse workforce in Canada, predominantly in the construction sector. The health and safety of their members remain top priority and through this partnership, TraceSCAN will be made available to all LiUNA members and their families. Facedrive Health is also in discussion with other unions, major financial institutions, post-secondary institutions and national sports brands among others for adoption.
