EXFO's new multifiber inspection solution has a tip the industry's been waiting for

PR Newswire

Launch of automated inspection tip for multifiber connectors, including MPO and MTP®[1]

QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF), the global network test, data and analytics experts, announced the launch of its Automated Multifiber Connector Inspection Tip, which makes it much easier and faster for technicians to do their jobs effectively. The automated tip is compatible with EXFO's fiber inspection probe series.

To meet the high-speed, low-latency demands of a bandwidth-hungry world, multifiber network infrastructures have become the new norm for data centers, service providers, web-scale companies and network equipment manufacturers. It is critical that multifiber connectors be clean; however, they are often not adequately inspected - and sometimes not at all - because the process can be difficult, time-consuming and inefficient.

Turning multifiber inspection pains into gains
It is challenging for technicians to access deeply recessed connectors in dense patch panels using manual, and often cumbersome, probes and tips. With the launch of EXFO's long-reaching and slim FIPT-400-MF Automated Multifiber Connector Inspection Tip, technicians will now be able to quickly inspect multifiber connectors in dual- and single-row (12/24 or 16/32), without missing fibers or dealing with the hassle of manipulating one or multiple scanning knobs, and while doing it right the first time.

In addition, technicians no longer need to carry other probes: EXFO's MF-ready probe covers all single-fiber and multifiber inspection needs.

"Our customers needed a fully automated, user-friendly device to help technicians inspect multifiber connectors right the first time, every time, and that is what we delivered," said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO's Vice-President, Test and Measurement. "Service providers want simpler, faster and more reliable solutions to drive down operating expenses in a highly competitive and rapidly transforming industry. In other words, 'good enough' network testing just isn't good enough anymore. It never was for EXFO, anyway."

Compatible tips include multifiber push-on (MPO), MTP, QODC-12 and OptiTip®[2] MT connectors.
