KINGSTON, ON, April 9, 2020 /CNW/ - The Empire Life Insurance Company (Empire Life) (TSX: EML.PR.A) announced today a change in the location of its annual meeting of shareholders and participating policyholders from Vantage Venues, 150 King Street West, Toronto, Ontario, to 165 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. The date and time of the meeting, Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. EDT, remain unchanged.

The health and well-being of our shareholders, customers, employees and community is our number one priority. Considering the directives around COVID-19 from public health officials on group settings, the Board of Directors believes the safest way to participate in the upcoming annual meeting is remotely. Empire Life has organized a live webinar and is urging its common shareholders and participating policyholders to vote by proxy and asking interested stakeholders and such shareholders and policyholders to remain at home and not attend the annual meeting in person. Please check the Events section of our website where further details will be provided on how to attend the live webinar.

This is not a virtual meeting. Common shareholders and participating policyholders cannot vote as part of the webinar and are strongly encouraged to vote by proxy in advance of the meeting by one of the methods described in the Management Information Circular (available at www.empire.ca/annual-general-meeting) and proxy materials previously distributed for the meeting. The deadline to vote your proxy in advance of the meeting is Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Note that proxy materials previously distributed will not be updated to reflect the change of location and addition of a live webinar. Proxy materials may continue to be used to vote common shares and participating policies in connection with the annual meeting.
