Highly respected leasing and real estate sales professional becomes Principal, will help expand firm's tenant advisory and enterprise solutions expertise across GTA and Canada

TORONTO, April 18, 2019 /CNW/ - Martin Dockrill, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Ontario region, announced today the strategic hiring of tenant advisory and enterprise solutions specialist Eamonn Murphy.

Effective immediately, Murphy becomes a Principal of Avison Young and a member of the firm's tenant advisory and enterprise solutions group with a mandate to help grow the firm's service-line coverage across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and nationally. Based in the firm's downtown Toronto office, he will continue to specialize in leasing and enterprise solutions while serving new and existing clients. He will also liaise with other members of the company's tenant advisory and enterprise solutions group and help facilitate the leasing, acquisition and disposition of multi-market transactions nationally.

"We are excited to welcome Eamonn to our team," comments Dockrill. "Eamonn's reputation as a professional within the GTA is impeccable, and his breadth of experience serving clients' needs across Canada will make him a valuable addition to our operations. Most importantly, his client-focused collaborative approach to doing business means he is a perfect fit for Avison Young."

Murphy brings more than 30 years of industry experience to Avison Young, most recently at JLL Canada where he was an executive vice-president in the firm's Toronto operations. Prior to joining JLL, he was an office leasing specialist with Cushman & Wakefield (formally Royal LePage Commercial) in Toronto. While at Cushman & Wakefield and JLL Canada, Murphy was consistently one of the top five performers in the Toronto offices and nationally. During his career, he has brokered leases covering more than 15 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space, and has worked with some of the country's and world's largest firms in the fields of accounting, financial services, legal services, engineering, investment services, technology and consumer products.

"I am pleased to welcome Eamonn to Avison Young," notes Mark Fieder, Avison Young Principal and COO, Canadian Operations. "Eamonn's client relationships, market knowledge and leadership skills will increase our tenant advisory and enterprise solutions group capabilities in the GTA, and his presence will bring an even greater depth of overall experience that we can offer to clients across Canada. His experience serving clients in varied business sectors will further tenants' efforts to become more efficient and provide landlords, asset managers and investors with the insights that they need to remain competitive in the rapidly changing GTA marketplace."

Murphy will work closely with Avison Young Principal and office leasing practice leader Rob Armstrong. The two previously worked together at JLL and Cushman & Wakefield.

"It's great to be working with Eamonn again," says Armstrong. "He is highly respected in the industry and has extensive experience negotiating complex and innovative deals. It's a pleasure to welcome him to our Avison Young team."

"Avison Young is known for its entrepreneurial and innovative real estate professionals, and I am excited to have the chance to contribute to the company's ongoing growth," says Murphy. "The company's Principal-led, client-centric philosophy connects perfectly with my own, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver creative solutions for all our clients. I am confident that my extensive experience within many diverse business sectors will support Avison Young in continuing to grow and expand its platform in Canada and globally. I believe that much of my success throughout my career has been the result of my ability to provide insightful market intelligence and honest advice to all of my clients, and from this I have been able to maintain my long-lasting relationships within this industry."

Murphy is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.
