Detour Gold Announces Meeting Results and New Board Member

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 9, 2016) - Detour Gold Corporation (TSX:DGC) ("Detour Gold" or the "Company") is pleased to provide voting results for the election of directors as listed in the Management Information Circular dated March 5, 2016 and announce the appointment of a new member to the Board which occurred at the Company's Annual General and Special Meeting of shareholders that was held on May 5, 2016. The detailed results of the vote for the election of directors are set out below.

Appointment of new board member:

Mr. Kenyon, Chair of the board of Detour Gold, is pleased to welcome Mr. Edward C. Dowling to the board.

Mr. Dowling holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering as well as a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mineral Processing, all from Pennsylvania State University. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Alacer Gold Corp. from 2008 to July 2012 and is currently the Chairman of Alacer Gold Corp. Mr. Dowling is also a director of Teck Resources Limited.

In addition, the Company reports that shareholders voted in favour of the Company's amended and restated Restricted Share Unit Plan, the amended and restated Share Option Plan, and the advisory vote on Executive Compensation ("Say on Pay").
