Joins community of Canada's most iconic female leaders

TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - We are pleased to announce that Cynthia Hansen, executive vice president of utilities and power operations for Enbridge Inc., has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women for 2018 by Women's Executive Network (WXN).

The list of Top 100 Winners released today pays tribute to the outstanding women across Canada who have advocated for diversity in the workforce, and who serve as an inspiration for the next generation of leaders.

"We are celebrating 100 of Canada's highest achieving women in diverse fields," said Sherri Stevens, CEO of WXN.

Cynthia Hansen was recognized for her leadership as founder and chair of an Enbridge Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee whose three-year strategy focuses on empowering employees to model the right diversity and inclusion attitudes and behaviours; building a diverse and inclusive workplace and improving the attraction, progression and retention of diverse talent.

"At Enbridge we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where individuals feel respected, are treated fairly and have an opportunity to excel – our diversity makes us stronger," said Cynthia Hansen. "This award is particularly meaningful as it provides an opportunity to celebrate female leaders who have successfully pushed boundaries in their careers and sends a message that opportunities are increasing for female leaders to have an impact at the highest organizational levels."

"All 100 women are role models for the generations who will follow – which is why it's very important to recognize and celebrate their great achievements," Stevens concluded.

The Top 100 Awards span the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with the initial candidates selected by WXN's Diversity Council. The final vetting process for the 2018 Top 100 Award Winners was completed by WXN's 2017-2018 Diversity Champions.
