Contract sharing scheme in Longueuil - A total of $10,000 in fines for Réal Thériault

Canada NewsWire

MONTRÉAL, Dec.1, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec rendered its decision on guilt and sanction in the case of Réal Thériault, who has been ordered to pay a total of $10,000 in fines. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Thériault to pay all costs in connection with processing the complaint.

Mr. Thériault was found guilty of violating several sections of the Code of Ethics of Engineers for agreeing to pay a commission to a political party and participating in a system in which his firm would obtain municipal contracts from the City of Longueuil.

Mr. Thériault's alleged offences were committed between 2000 and 2004, while he was president of the firm Progemes.

The full version of the Disciplinary Council's decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ's Web site.

As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading professionals from repeating offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
