CIBC donates $100,000 to RCMP Foundation and IWK Health Centre in response to Nova Scotia tragedy

Canada NewsWire

TORONTO, Apr. 22, 2020 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) is donating $50,000 to the RCMP Foundation and $50,000 to IWK Health Centre, a leading health centre in Nova Scotia, in response to the recent tragic events in the province.

The funding for the RCMP Foundation will support local work in reducing violence and keeping Canadian communities safe. The funding for IWK Health Centre will be earmarked for their Virtual Mental Health Program, which they are working to expand as a result of increased call volume from the public, clinicians and doctors' referrals. Through online counselling and other services, the program supports victims, their families, first responders and all those affected by the trauma.

"We stand united with our clients, team members and communities impacted by the devastating tragedy in Nova Scotia. Our thoughts are with the friends and families who lost loved ones," said Stephen Forbes, Executive Vice-President, Purpose, Brand and Corporate Affairs. "We are grateful to the local heroes and first responders who have been working tirelessly to keep people safe. This unfathomable event has touched the hearts of all Canadians, and we are here to support them."
