TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2018 /CNW/ - CI Financial Corp. ("CI") today reported preliminary assets under management at October 31, 2018 of $130.0 billion and total assets of $172.5 billion.

Assets under management decreased by 9.6% year over year and by 4.8% in the month of October. Total assets decreased by 7.2% for the 12-month period, and experienced a 4.6% decline through the month of October. These results reflect broader market returns for October. During the month, the S&P/TSX Composite index declined 6.5% and the S&P 500 Index was down 5.4% in Canadian dollars.

CI's average assets under management for the quarter-to-date were $132.2 billion, versus $138.3 billion for the third quarter of 2018. Average assets under management for the year-to-date were $139.1 billion, a gain of $12.8 billion or 10.1% from the average for fiscal 2017.

CI reported assets under advisement at Assante Wealth Management (Canada) Ltd. and Stonegate Private Counsel of $42.5 billion at October 31, 2018, representing an increase of $0.5 billion or 1.2% year over year.
