Changes to the Board of Directors of Transcontinental Inc.: departure of Mr. André Tremblay and appointment of Mr. Yves Leduc

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 7, 2017) - Transcontinental Inc. (TSX:TCL.A)(TSX:TCL.B) announces the departure of Mr. André Tremblay and the appointment of Mr. Yves Leduc to the Corporation's Board of Directors. Mr. Tremblay, Managing Partner at Trio Capital Inc., has served on the Board of Transcontinental Inc. for the last 10 years. He significantly contributed to the Corporation's success and proved to be a strong ally during its strategic transformation. The Board of Directors welcomes Mr. Leduc, President and Chief Executive Officer of Velan Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial valves. A renowned leader, he has close to 30 years of vast experience both in Canada and internationally, in the areas of manufacturing operations, product development, sales and marketing.

"During his tenure, Mr. André Tremblay played a prominent role on the Board of Directors," said Ms. Isabelle Marcoux, Chair of the Board of Transcontinental Inc. His judgment, integrity, vast experience and creative spirit have benefited us and I sincerely thank him for his sound guidance. As Chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, he significantly contributed to our ongoing transformation into packaging and, for that, we are most grateful to him. On behalf of all the directors, I wish him much continued success.

"Furthermore, it is with enthusiasm that I welcome Mr. Yves Leduc to the Board of Directors of Transcontinental Inc.", continued Ms. Marcoux. I am confident that the Corporation will benefit from his long-standing manufacturing expertise, his strong product development experience as well as his involvement in the development of numerous innovation processes. Together with all members of the Board, we will pursue our work toward the Corporation's lasting growth for the benefit of our shareholders."

Mr. Yves Leduc joined Velan Inc. as President in January 2015 and also became its Chief Executive Officer in 2017. Previously employed at BRP for 16 years, he held various senior management positions, including Vice President General Manager of the North America division as of 2006. During his previous mandates, Mr. Leduc worked at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant where he carried out projects in North America and Europe, and as a lawyer with Stikeman Elliott in Montreal. A man of active involvement, particularly in the areas of education and culture, he currently serves on the board of Orford Music and, until recently, on the boards of Corporation études-sports (Studies and Sports Corporation) of the Université de Sherbrooke and the Accelerator for the creation of technological businesses group of the Université de Sherbrooke. A lawyer by training, he is a graduate of the Université de Montréal and of Columbia University in New York.
