Those who make a submission must demonstrate an overall understanding of public relations and communications, its theoretical and practical elements, including values and principles through submission of a two-page essay on a specified topic. Copeland submitted an essay on What do codes of ethics or professional standards mean to you?

"Celine is clearly an intelligent, hard-working and principled individual. Her personal and professional attributes will make a welcome addition to the public relations community," said Patrick Hammond, APR, member of the Communications + Public Relations Foundation's Board of Directors. "Through this scholarship, we are pleased to welcome emerging public relations practitioners like Celine who display a strong grounding in communications theory and practice."

As an active volunteer in the Calgary community and an avid sports enthusiast, Celine has volunteered with the Alberta Golf Community Event, Calgary Canucks, Calgary Ladies Golf Association, and Golf Canada Calgary's Centre Girl golf program, to name a few. In addition, Celine has demonstrated her commitment to community and youth, volunteering with various food assistance programs, at Youth Central Calgary, and helping to promote youth literacy through the Calgary Public Library Reading Buddies program.
