Hoye on watch for the unwinding of the everything bubble

In his most recent interview, Bob Hoye from is on watch for a post-bubble contraction. In particular, he sees the yield curve reversing in the direction of a contraction and junk bond credit spreads once again breaking out. Hoye says, "Just looking at the spreads you could say this is anticipating a contraction".


Balmoral stock jumps on Fenelon location bet

In his August 8th Discovery Watch interview, John Kaiser concludes that the latest results from Midland Exploration's (INK Edge Outlook: Cloudy; MD) Mythril project are not yet indicating a world-class copper discovery. The hunt continues, however, with more drill results pending which will be followed up with the design of another drilling program later in the summer.

Short report: Bearish setup signals dominate, despite some bullish exceptions

Bearish signals continue to dominate our short report, with eight names having bearish setups in the top ten most-shorted list. Although our signals still point to a potential short squeeze in oil patch names Paramount Resources (POU) and Bonterra Energy (BNE), the oil price is not cooperating. As such, the shorts appear to have the wind at their backs as we head into the home stretch this summer.

We will be publishing the August Top 40 before the market open Tuesday. If there were any doubt that gold stocks are a hot area of the market this summer, the composition of the list should put that to rest. A total of 17 precious metals stocks have made our Top 40 chart. We cannot remember gold stocks ever having such a high representation in our Top 40. It is almost certainly a record.
