Canada's First Eco-Friendly Rideshare Service Launches in the Nation's Capital on Canada Day

Canada NewsWire

OTTAWA, July 1, 2020 /CNW/ - Facedrive Inc. ("Facedrive") (TSXV: FD) is proud to announce it is launching its ridesharing services in the nation's capital this Canada Day. Facedrive is Canada's first peer-to-peer, eco-friendly and socially responsible ridesharing network. Tomorrow's launch means that, for the first time, green and socially responsible consumers in Ottawa will have access to a ridesharing platform that is 100% Canadian and puts people and the planet first.

Launching in the nation's capital on July 1st is fitting for a Canadian-owned company that aligns so closely with Canadian values. Canadian consumers are looking for a ridesharing platform that will enable them to get to where they need to be safely, reliably and sustainably, all while being committed to rider experience. Focusing on the rider experience means making safety a priority and limiting fare increases. Unlike other ridesharing platforms, Facedrive does not use surge pricing.

Sustainability means becoming the first Canadian ridesharing company to offer carbon neutral rides. A portion of every rider's fare will be contributed to carbon offset initiatives, through partnerships with organizations like Forest Ontario. Riders will also be able to choose between electric, hybrid or gas-powered vehicles when ordering a trip through the platform.

"We are delighted to be launching Facedrive in the National Capital Region on Canada Day," said Suman Pushparajah, Chief Operating Officer of Facedrive. "Bringing our ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy to life in the city will provide Ottawans with a sustainable alternative, and we're excited to get started," added Pushparajah.

Putting people first means offering more to the people who make it possible: the drivers. For every trip, Facedrive drivers earn up to 90% of the trip fare based on their vehicle type – and 100% of tips. Training for drivers goes beyond normal safety precautions, including COVID-19 prevention and response measures. Facedrive's multi-step driver onboarding process ensures proper training and protection for both drivers and riders.

As businesses reopen and people return to work, Facedrive is committed to working closely with the City of Ottawa and the local authorities to support the city's needs for transportation solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Facedrive's expansion to Ottawa is in line with national and global expansion plans. It is currently servicing in Toronto, London, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Orillia, and Guelph.
