SAN FRANCISCO --

Brex, the first corporate card for startups and ecommerce businesses, today announced it has been recognized as one of San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal’s “2019 Best Places to Work.” Brex stood out among 500 applicants as a company whose employees determined its policies and best practices, as well as values, office culture, compensation and benefits, were some of the best in the Bay Area.

“We recognized from the very beginning that in order to retain top talent, we had to create an environment where employees could not only feel welcomed and valued, but also inspired and challenged to do their best work every day,” said Henrique Dubugras, co-founder and CEO of Brex. “The San Francisco Business Times Best Places to Work award is particularly special to me because it is based off of survey responses from the entire Brex team. Brex would not be where it is today without the talented, hard-working and committed team that we’ve had from day one.”

The Best Places to Work survey is completed by employees from each award recipient, in which they evaluated and ranked their employers across multiple categories including culture, compensation, benefit offerings and management practices. This year’s submission process included a particular emphasis on employee wellness and mental health.

This acknowledgement stems from Brex’s numerous policies and perks that directly benefit their employees including high quality health, workplace and commuter offerings as well as a culture that supports learning and professional development.

Additionally, Brex has maintained strong emphasis on hiring talent from foreign backgrounds — to date, 48% of Brex employees are first generation immigrants and come from 17 different countries. Brex will continue to prioritize hiring top talent from different backgrounds as the company grows and expands its premium offerings.
