Today is a busy day at INK. At the close we are rebalancing the 50-stock INK Canadian Insider (CIN) Index. Over the past week we have been highlighting some of the new entrants and in the Friday morning report we highlighted newcomer Mullen Group ( MTL). There is obviously a lot of uncertainty about the economy's path due to COVID-19. However, there is some hope emerging among biotech stocks that maybe some treatments might be on the way. In particular, two stocks focusing on anti-body research that we featured in INK Chat are rallying Friday.

The big winner is Sorrento Therapeutics (SRNE) which is up more than 150% based on a Fox News story that the company is claiming to have an effective treatment. Nicholas Winton who writes the weekly INK CIN technical blog highlighted this stock in INK Chat on May 11th.

Congratulations to Nicholas for a fantastic call. INK Research Chat invitations are available for Canadian Insider Research Club members, and participation is at the discretion of INK Research.

If you are not a Research Club member, join us today as an Ultra member, and we will send you an invitation. As a reminder, Canadian Insider Club Ultra members have full access to both free and premium content.

I reallly encourage you to visit us in INK Chat at least once a week. That is where I have been following Venture-listed ImmunoPrecise Antibodies (IPA) which is climbing today on the optimism in the biotech industry in relation to COVID-19. This could have implications for the broad market which I talk about briefly in the Chat today. So, please join the discussion!

We also had Raoul Pal live at noon EDT Friday talking about the amazing Real Vision series Global Recession, What's Next? Pal has nailed the direction of both stocks and fixed income over the past year. Watch the replay below and get his latest take on the global economy and markets.

2. To catch a falling knife - Real Vision (premium)

Howard Marks of Oaktree Capital Management shares with Real Vision co-founder and CEO Raoul Pal his investing framework. He and Raoul explore just how late we are in the credit cycle and look at risks and opportunities that lie ahead. Marks discusses the principles that made him one of the world’s greatest investors – discipline, contrarianism, and selectivity – and reflects how these principles serve as guiding stars during this time of unprecedented uncertainty. Marks’ specialty is putting capital to work when others have lost their nerve – or, as he describes it, “to catch falling knives” – and he shares with Raoul how he plans on identifying and selecting value at a time when the Fed’s recent actions have clouded the investment landscape by artificially distorting security prices. Filmed on May 12, 2020.

Has the Fed ruined the contrarian party?
