Award Winning "Regional Banknote of the Year" Includes Nanotech's Colour Shift Optical Thin Film Technology to Enhance Security

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - March 29, 2016) -  Nanotech Security Corp. (TSX VENTURE: NTS) (OTCQX: NTSFF) congratulates the National Bank of Kazakhstan on their award winning 20,000 Tenge banknote. This banknote includes the Company's highly secure colour shift optical thin film (OTF) technology. The award, presented by Reconnaissance International at the High Security Printing Europe conference in March 2016, recognizes outstanding achievement in the design, technical sophistication, and security of a banknote.

The 20,000 Tenge banknote is the first full circulation banknote in the world to be printed on the Durasafe® composite banknote substrate made by Swiss papermaker Landqart AG. The three-layer substrate is composed of two cotton paper outer layers with a fully transparent polymer core enabling a number of unique security features.

Nanotech supplied Landqart with a magenta to green colour shift OTF thread that was incorporated into Landqart's Durasafe® composite substrate for the Bank of Kazakhstan 20,000 Tenge banknote.

"We are pleased to have our colour shift OTF in the Bank of Kazakhstan's award winning banknote," said Doug Blakeway, Nanotech Chief Executive Officer. "Our colour shift OTF threads and patches have now been designed into more than 10 banknotes around the world and we continue to see strong interest from issuing authorities for our colour shift OTF and other security feature platforms."

About Colour Shift Optical Thin Film

Nanotech's colour shift optical thin film has been the standard for document security for over two decades, and for good reason: it is extremely difficult to reproduce or simulate, yet very simple to use. It is also one of the most durable overt security features, with little to no loss in its characteristics when crumpled or printed on. Nanotech offers six standard colour shifts and over 200 shades of these colours can be tuned to customers' specific requirements. The colour shift OTF threads can be used in both composite paper-polymer-paper and cotton banknote paper.
