OTTAWA, Ontario --

BioTalent Canada announces today the launch of the third annual Catalyst Award for Top New Hire. The award showcases young employees who have contributed to the growth of Canada’s bio-economy while highlighting biotech companies as Employers of Choice.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20181211005504/en/

A national not-for profit industry association, BioTalent Canada is the HR partner of the Canadian biotechnology industry and works to ensure that the bio-economy has access to the talent it needs. Its many wage subsidy programs continue to be a successful way to ensure this access.

"We created the annual award in 2015 to recognize employers who invest in young talent and the dedicated young people who were hired through our wage subsidy programs,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. “Telling the stories of their start in biotech careers is extremely rewarding, knowing they are having such a positive impact on their employers.”

Biotechnology employers are invited to submit applications, describing their most recent hires through the programs – how these young scientists and entrepreneurs have enhanced innovation and made substantial contributions to their companies.

New for this year, participants from BioTalent Canada’s Student Work Placement program, which to-date placed 520 co-op students, will also be eligible for the award nominations from BioTalent Canada’s Student Work Placement employers.

The 2019 Catalyst Award is accepting entries from employers until January 31, 2019. The winner will be announced in Spring 2019 and will be awarded a $1,000 prize. More information and the application form to the 2019 Catalyst Award are available at biotalent.ca/2019Catalyst
