2018 holiday period: Practical tips to facilitate your airport visit

Canada NewsWire

MONTRÉAL, June 20, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - With passenger traffic on the rise and an increasing number of popular destinations on offer, a large number of travellers will be passing through Montréal-Trudeau to fly to one of 148 destinations. Aéroports de Montréal would like to provide some tips to ensure a pleasant and smooth visit to the airport:

Getting to the airport

  • Take the time to check the condition of roads and traffic on the road network to estimate your commute time. During the summer, Montréal's road network - and access roads to the airport - will be disrupted by many construction projects.
  • Check your flight schedule by visiting the ADM website or contacting your airline.

At the airport

  • Arrive at the airport in advance (3 hours for international and transborder flights/2 hours for domestic flights) and go through the security screening checkpoint as soon as you have checked in.
  • June marks the entry into service of new, faster primary inspection lines, known as CATSA Plus. Montréal-Trudeau has invested nearly $8 million to implement these 12 highly efficient lines and respond to high passenger volumes.
  • Reserve your priority passage through the security screening checkpoint at international and domestic departures with the free SecurXpress service.
  • Pack your hand baggage (cabin baggage) in accordance with the rules in effect. Non-compliant baggage increases wait times for all passengers.

Returning home

  • Download the mobile CanBorder, eDeclaration app to save time at border controls. This application reduces the processing time at the terminals by 50%.
  • During the 2018 summer season, passengers arriving at Montréal-Trudeau will be greeted by a reconfigured border services hall following a nearly $9 million investment. Some 133 next-generation touch screen terminals will speed up border control processes.

Picking up passengers

  • Make sure that the passengers you are coming to pick up have arrived before heading to the arrivals-level pickup zone, which is very busy during the summer.
  • Are you early? Use the free CellParc parking lot where you can stay for up to 2 hours. You can access it easily by following this guide.
